A is for Acting!

Grades K-2

Description: In this class, students will engage in movement and vocal exercises, fun improvisation games and creative drama exploration to better understand what it means to be an actor or actress! They will also learn basic stagecraft terms to better understand the world of theatre such as what is stage left? 
A prop? What does a director do?. Reading and memorization skills are not necessary but students may be given a small, basic script adapted from children books and/or stories to learn.

Acting Up!

Grades 3-8

Description: This class introduces new students to the exciting world of theatre and performance! Students will learn the key elements of an Actor’s Toolbox: Voice, Body, Imagination, Concentration and Cooperation through fun and creative games and improvisational exercises. Students will also have the opportunity to explore character development with fun scenes and monologues from contemporary plays and films!

HEIDI JEAN WEINRICH

has been working in theatre for decades as an actor at Playhouse on Park and many other theatres in CT, Seattle, and New York. She also has directing experience and has taught Language Arts on the secondary and college levels. As a Teaching Artist she has worked with New Britain Youth Theatre, Hartford Performs, and other organizations, and this past summer she was the Drama Instructor at Auerfarm Summer Camp in Bloomfield.
